Colin Christenson

Howdy I’m Colin.  I play drums in the band and help run the social media and booking craziness.  I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and grew up in a super musical family.  My dad was a high school band director for the first 13 years of my life so I was constantly surrounded by his playlists of jazz, classic rock and the Dave Matthews Band.  I picked up drumsticks in his band room when I was 4 years old and had convinced my parents to get me a drum set by the time I was 6.

I played my first gig when I was 13 at a teen rock night with Jimmy.  After that, I spent most of my high school years playing jazz and R&B gigs with Sam around town and jamming with our buddies at Sweetwater’s Academy of Music.  By the time Overlook came into full swing, Sam and I were used to gigging a couple of times every week and waking up for school after late night sessions.  I’ll forever love playing jazz, but by this time I was more infatuated with the many sounds of rock n roll like Nirvana, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Radiohead, and Tame Impala.

Around 2019 I fell in love with the city of Nashville and was pumped to get down here to go to school at Belmont in 2020, but a couple months was all I needed to realize that college wasn’t for me.  I spent a little over a year working and learning about all things music and gear at Sweetwater Sound instead and I’m excited to start take two of my adventures in the music city.
